The Kansas State Board of Cosmetology was created in 1927 from statute 74-2701 as the Board of Registration for Cosmetologists. The board consisted of three members who were registered cosmetologists and appointed by the governor for three-year terms. The board was created to examine and register apprentices to become cosmetologists, to provide for fees to be paid for maintenance of the board, and to carry on the business of administering the cosmetology law.
